Description

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is a universal thermoplastic made from ethylene and sodium chloride by polymerization of vinyl chloride. Production of polyvinyl chloride is one of the most knowledge-intensive and complex. Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is a thermoplastic polymer with a wide range of uses, used in recent times all over the world. Polyvinylchloride is completely harmless to humans and, on a very large scale, it is used in almost all areas of its life. PVC in terms of world production is in third place after building plastics and polyolefins (polypropylene and polyethylene). For more than 80 years, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is the ideal polymer for the production of finishing materials and consumer goods, during which time it underwent multiple tests and confirmed its absolute safety for human health. That is, when using products from plasticized polyvinyl chloride (like linoleum) at temperatures up to fifty degrees and unplasticized PVC (like door and window blocks) at temperatures up to eighty degrees they do not emit absolutely any substances and are therefore completely harmless.

The relatively cheap price, the availability of raw materials, as well as the ability to regulate properties within a wide range - all this favors a regular increase in the production of polyvinyl chloride in the developed countries of the world. For all products made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), the appropriate certificates are issued.

To date, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is the most popular material and this is due to its unique properties:

  • Versatility. Polyvinyl chloride has an attractive appearance, can be both rigid and flexible, easily subjected to cutting, welding, molding, gluing.
  • Durability. PVC materials can serve more than a hundred years.
  • Weather resistance. Polyvinylchloride is not afraid of aggressive environmental factors: sunlight, moisture, high and low air temperature, natural microorganisms, insects and therefore, it is he who is used for the production of roofing.
  • Fire resistance. Due to the presence of chlorine in the molecule, PVC is a flame-retardant material, due to which products from it do not support combustion.
  • Barrier properties. Polyvinyl chloride has a very low permeability to gases, vapors and liquids. PVC plastics have sufficient mechanical strength, good electrical insulation properties, good chemical resistance: they do not dissolve in kerosene and gasoline, they are resistant to alkali and acids.
  • Energy efficiency. Polyvinyl chloride has a high calorific value (in incinerators, when it is disposed of, a lot of heat is generated to heat the premises (residential and industrial), and there is no pollution of the environment)
  • Economical. Polyvinyl chloride is the cheapest large-tonnage polymer, its products have the best price-quality ratio
  • Hygiene. This is the most important, for today, property of PVC, it is used to make vessels for storing plasma and blood. Vessels made from other materials have significantly shorter periods of blood storage, which means there is a need for more donors
  • Ecological compatibility. Polyvinyl chloride contains only forty-three percent of oil derivatives, and this saves non-renewable natural raw materials
  • Possibility of recycling. PVC is more than other polymers, suitable for recycling
  • Security. Polyvinyl chloride is an absolutely safe material and this is proved by scrupulous scientific research
