Description

As it is clear from the name, in membrane filters the membrane is applied to water purification. What is it? In a literal translation from Latin of "membrana" is a thin skin, a membrane. Of course, for its receiving nobody peels a skin from poor animals or a pad of geese, membranes are thin porous films which make of synthetic materials: polypropylene, lavsan, ftoroplast, polisulfon, acetate of cellulose, polisulfon and even ceramics. Different types of membranes have the following sizes of a time (microopenings):

  1. Microfiltrational – 0,02-4,0 microns.
  2. Ultrafiltrational – 0,02-0,2 microns.
  3. Nanofiltrational – 0,001-0,01 microns.
  4. Obratnoosmotichesky – 0,0001-0,001 microns.

All membranes are used in filters for water of flowing type: the first two look is applied in filters of thin water purification ; the third look is used in water softening filters, for reduction of concentration of the salts of rigidity causing a scum; and the last look in filters of the return osmosis.

Industrial and household membrane filters for water purification are subdivided on constructive tipuprimenyaemy membranes:

  • filters with flat disk membranes;
  • filters with tubular membranes;
  • filters with membranes of rolled type;
  • filters with polovolokonny membranes.

All membrane filtering devices can use as the condensed polymeric membranes, and ceramic membranes with rigid structure. In household filters membranes of rolled type and polovolokonny are most often applied.

Than the size of a time of membranes is less, subjects of a particle of the smaller size they are able to detain. At the same time, with reduction of a time, resistance to water flow increases and bigger pressure for maintenance of process of a filtration is required.

The microfiltration membrane with a size of time of 0,1-1,0 microns detains the melkodispersionny suspensions and colloidal particles causing a water turbidity. Generally it are used in need of rough water purification or for its preliminary preparation before thinner filtration.

The ultrafiltrational membrane with a size of time from 0,01 to 0,1 microns detains large organic molecules, bacteria and viruses, colloidal particles, passing at the same time the dissolved salts. This membrane are applied in industrial and household membrane filters to water and provides high quality of a filtration of harmful impurity, at the same time leaving invariable mineral composition of water.

The nanofiltrational membrane having a time from 0,001 to 0,01 microns in size filters large organic compounds and misses up to 90% of the dissolved salts, depending on their structure.

The membrane of the return osmosis has the smallest openings and therefore possesses the most selective properties. It filters all bacteria and viruses, the main part of the dissolved salts, the organic compounds, iron and heavy metals, organic dyes giving to water the color, pesticides, herbicides and insecticides which are washed away from fields and kitchen gardens.

The membrane of the return osmosis detains the vast majority of all dissolved impurity, passing only pure molecules, the dissolved gases and small percent of mineral salts. This type of membranes is applied in the industry, to receiving quality water (spill of drinking water, production of various drinks, pharmaceutics, the electronic and food industry etc.).

Let's consider attentively the household membrane filter for water. A time of a membrane of the return osmosis, because of the small sizes, is subject to a contamination large impurity therefore for its effective work preliminary preparation of tap water is obligatory: rough filtration, then thin cleaning and softening of too hard water. The prepared water has to be pumped on a membrane with pressure not less than 3 Bars, otherwise the filtration will pass too slowly. With an insufficient pressure of water in pipes are applied water a pomp, increasing it to necessary level.

Impurity together with the water which did not pass through membrane openings are washed away in a drainage, thereby prolonging service life of this filtering element. The industry obratnoosmotichesky filters with an accumulative tank are issued: via the automatic valve in the filter water is pumped until the tank is filled. After its filling automatic equipment works, and the filter is switched-off until pure analysis begins. It is convenient that, despite the low speed of a filtration (small pressure on the top floors of old houses), there is always an operational reserve of drinking water.
