Description
Terry towels and dressing gowns, as a rule, make of cotton threads. In some cases synthetic fibers can be added to a thread. However terry products from 100% of cotton enjoy the greatest popularity.
Fibers of cotton are a basis for production of elementary threads depending on which way of connection then receive a set of other threads. Distinguish the following types of threads:
one-filar - the simplest;
complex - the thread consisting of two or several elementary threads connected among themselves by twisting or pasting;
twisted (twisted yarn) - the thread received by twisting of two (double yarn) or more complex threads, a yarn or that and others together
The twisted thread is characterized by high mechanical properties and bigger, in comparison with one-filar (single yarn), uniformity on thickness.
ADVANTAGES OF THE YARN FROM THE TWISTED THREAD
Tensile strength of a yarn of double torsion is 20 percent higher than at a yarn from two fibers
Fabric from a twisted yarn is more uniform, its density is higher
Fabric is softer and more pleasant when using
Resistance of fabric to attrition, stretching and loss of an initial form is significantly higher
The twisted yarn is less inclined to a twisting
The terry towels and dressing gowns executed from a twisted thread are softer and more gentle than usual terry products and serve much longer.
